Before entering the adult industry, Maitland Ward Baxter had already spent over a decade in mainstream Hollywood. Born on February 3, 1977, in Long Beach, California, she began her on-screen career in the mid-1990s with a recurring role as Jessica Forrester on the CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful from 1994 to 1996. She then landed the role of Rachel McGuire on the ABC sitcom Boy Meets World, appearing in the show's final three seasons from 1998 to 2000. A supporting role in the 2004 comedy White Chicks added another recognizable credit to her resume before she stepped away from mainstream acting in 2007.

Starting around 2013, Maitland began posting nude and body-painted photography on social media, gradually building a following outside of her earlier television work. Maitland married real estate agent Terry Baxter on October 21, 2006, after meeting him on a set. The couple relocated to New York, where Maitland studied writing and screenwriting at New York University. In September 2022, Atria Books published her autobiography, Rated X: How Porn Liberated Me from Hollywood. The book details her perspective on leaving conventional acting behind and her view of adult performance as a deliberate career decision rather than a last resort.

Industry Context

Maitland's crossover from network television to adult film remains one of the more notable transitions in the industry. Her former Boy Meets World co-star Trina McGee publicly expressed support for the move.
