Namewee was not initially considered a suspect in her death but was arrested on the same day on suspicion of drug possession and use. He was released on bail two days later. In a public statement, the rapper denied drug use and expressed sorrow over Iris's death. Subsequent toxicology results reported by the BBC indicated he tested positive for amphetamines, methamphetamines, ketamine, and THC.
