Born Alina Popa on July 9, 1975, in Romania, Helle Trevino has built one of the most decorated careers in women's professional bodybuilding over a span of more than two decades. She began training at age 19 and stepped into her first competition in 2000, at 22 years old.

Early Career and Rise

Helle's competitive trajectory moved through amateur ranks before she claimed first place at the 2003 IFBB National Championship in the middleweight division. In 2007, she won the NABBA Miss Universe title in the Miss Physique class. Her transition to pro status came with an appearance at the 2010 Ms. International, which stands as the only contest in her career where she failed to place in the top five.

Olympia Contention

Helle reached the highest levels of the sport when she finished as runner-up at the Ms. Olympia in both 2013 and 2014. In both instances, she placed behind Iris Kyle, the record holder for most Olympia titles. Those back-to-back second-place finishes established Helle as one of the top competitors in the women's bodybuilding division during that era.
